Concerts by national and international musicians in Chipping Campden from October to March each year plus visits to concerts, ballet and opera in Birmingham

For fifty years the Campden Music (previously Campden and District Music Society)  has brought wonderful music performed by brilliant musicians to Chipping Campden: indeed, the Fitzwilliam Quartet, who visited us recently, commented, "we have to say that you have one of the best run music societies we have ever played for and one of the most responsive audiences - there were moments of such rapt silence it took the breath away". Some concerts are of course more exuberant and the range is wide, extending from the 15th to the 21st century, from solo performers to ensembles.

The Society presents six concerts during the winter months and they are almost always given at Chipping Campden School where the acoustic is excellent and where there is plenty of parking for visitors’ cars. Wine and soft drinks are always served during the interval. The Society operates on a subscription basis, the annual subscription covering all six concerts but guests of members are also very welcome as is the generous donation that such visitors offer. We benefit greatly from the Countess of Munster Musical Trust and local businesses also sustain our sponsorship income.

These concerts by national and international artists are the heart of the Society’s activities but members also have the opportunity to travel by coach to Birmingham for large orchestral performances at Symphony Hall and for Welsh National Opera and Birmingham Royal Ballet at the Hippodrome.
