Campden Music Festival

Creative Campden

From fairly modest beginnings in 2002 Chipping Campden Music Festival has rapidly become one of the UK’s leading festivals featuring some of the world’s most prestigious musicians.

Perhaps the high-point of the last eight years was when the legendary pianist Alfred Brendel agreed to perform here twice during his final season on the concert platform.

The festival was delighted when in 2005 the renowned pianist Paul Lewis agreed to become festival president and Julian Lloyd Webber became patron of the education programme.

Education is a big priority and, in addition to the international names engaged for the evening concerts, we give over the series of weekday lunchtime recitals to advanced students or recent graduates from leading UK colleges. In 2008 we expanded our education work further by forming the ‘Festival Academy Orchestra’, an ensemble comprised of 50% experienced professionals and 50% advanced students and recent graduates. Additionally we heavily subsidise tickets for young people offering them free access to lunchtime concerts and charging them a nominal £1 for the evening concerts.
