I have a strong affinity with the rural landscape and my work is increasingly drawn to those rural elements of buildings and the use of our agricultural land. Our visual perception of the landscape often belies the inner being of that land formed by the passage of time, man’s influence upon it and the skill and dedication of those that work that land.
My current work in Installation has a strong visual impact using found objects.
Using aerial photography and some closer studies, my paintings complement the three dimensional work and ‘hover’ between representation and abstraction, using acrylic and mixed media.
The New Mexico paintings of Richard Diebenkorn are inspiring as is the work of Peter Lanyon and the John Piper landscapes.
